Officials from the Somali military spokesperson stated that the attackers were taken away and inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists.

Al-Shabaab fighters also claimed victory in the battle and the previous attack, and announced that they had taken control of military bases there, according to the statement.

The situation is currently tense, with conflicting movements being felt on the outskirts of Baidoa, the capital of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of southwestern Somalia.
