MOGADISHU [SMN] – At least eight people are dead and a dozen of others were wounded on Saturday after a suicide car bomb attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The dead include a mother and her two children killed in the explosion that happened at El-Gabta vicinity near the Villa Somalia, according to the police.

Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack but didn’t provide further details about the number of people it killed in the bombing.

On Friday, a bomber blew himself up at Villa Baidoa military base in the city.

Mogadishu sees a surge in attacks amid political tension between top Somali government leaders as the country faces election and security challenges.
