MOGADISHU [SMN] – Members of the Federal Electoral Commission are expected to elect a new chairman today to replace the previous chairman, Mohamed Hassan Irro.

Election arrangements are now being felt at the Decale Hotel where most of the country’s Indirect Electoral Commission members are staying.

Reports say that there is fierce competition going on between the parties in the committee, especially the members who are interested in running for the chairmanship.

The commission is the backbone of the ongoing parliamentary elections, which have been agreed to be completed within 40 days.
