DOLOW – Ethiopian troops under the African Union Mission in Somalia were deployed to a border Somali town amid efforts to launch an offensive against Al-Shabaab.
Many Ethiopian troops have been serving under ATMIS in different regions in Somalia, including Gedo, which lies near Ethiopia and Kenya borders.
The new NISA commander in Gedo Gen Jamal Hassan Sarey thanked the troops for the security of the airport and welcomed the new soldiers making the rotation.
The commander also said that the Ethiopian troops will be working together with the regional security region to secure the region and also fight al-Shabaab.
Dolow municipality in the Gedo region has been a focus for the past few days after the former Minister of Security in Jubaland Abdirashid Hassan Abdinur (Janan) arrived.
