MOGADISHU (SMN) – The National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] has stepped up its operations against Al-Shabaab militants over the past few days.
The elite NISA forces have intensified their efforts to hunt down Al-Shabaab in the south of the country, where the military along with community fighters are making territorial gains.
NISA said it carried out at least 30 cover operations targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts and killed dozens of militants, including unnamed senior Al-Shabaab commanders.
In addition, the spy agency announced that it detained the Al-Shabaab terror network in charge of the Mogadishu attacks and it handed them over to the relevant courts.
There have also been Al-Shabaab operatives who surrendered themselves to NISA and are under interrogation before being sent to rehab centers in the Horn of Africa country.
