GAROWE [SMN] – The leader of Puntland state Said Abdullahi Deni has today returned to Garowe after days of a family visit to the United Arab Emirates [UAE].

The president was accorded a warm welcome at Garowe airport by his deputy Ahmed Karash, lawmakers, security officials, ministers, and some members of the public.

His arrival comes two days after a deadly battle between two rival forces in Bossaso, the main commercial and economic hub of the regional state that left at least twenty dead.

The incident was sparked by a dispute over the arrival of Lower House’s deputy speaker Sadiya Yasin Samatar, whose humanitarian flight was turned away from the airport.
