Somali army kills militants during anti-al-Shabab offensive in Bakool

HUDUR [SMN] – Somali military said 2 Al-Shabab members were killed and several injured in a fresh offensive in the Bakol region, in the latest attempt to flush out the group.

 

The clashes broke out in Dhursheen Shabeelle village, which lies about 35 kilometers away from Hudur, the regional capital of Bakol after the army attacked an Al-Shabaab base.

Omar Abdirahman, the deputy commissioner of Elberde town has identified the slain militants as Ahmed Mooragaabey and Ali Garweyne, who were in charge of the Zakat.

The deputy DC said the military operation will go on until they assure that the region is fully liberated from Al-Shabaab, a militant group linked with Al-Qaeda.
