Somali delegation attends a conference in Djbibouti

MOGADISHU [SMN] – The minister of livestock, forestry, and pasture Mohamed Aden Maalim and a group of his delegation led by him attended a high-level conference in Djibouti.

The purpose of the conference was to raise the awareness and surrounding issues in regards to livestock and the community in the area cluster 4 called Dikhil, and what solutions and plans can be put in place in regards to withstanding drought and natural disasters that may occur, as well as finding long-lasting solutions that are essential for the needs of the following categories;

livestock, pasture, water, animal health, and sanitation services.

The conference had also managed to discuss and address the issue of addressing peace and stability in the pastoral communities along the borders of the three countries which are a part of cluster 4 DIKHIL.

The conference was organized and set up by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and was attended by the Ministers of Livestock from Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Somalia from cluster 4 DIKHIL.

The conference lasted for two days, in which the first day consisted of technical meetings and briefings in which ministers were prepared for the upcoming conference on the second ministerial day.

To summarize, at the end of the conference, an agreement was reached between both DIKHIL and IGAD member states to provide support for the project and work together, implementing and ensuring its success.
