Somali election body suspends the election of two seats in Southwest

MOGADISHU [SMN] – FEIT announced it has suspended the election of two Lower House seats in Southwest state, the 3rd to held back after complaints from candidates.

The Federal Indirect Elections Team said on Friday that seats 103 and 154 are now pending a determination by the Dispute Resolution Committee.

Southwest state Public Works Minister Mohamed Ali Hassan was declared to be the winner of Seat 103 after former Lower House speaker Mohamed Jawari was blocked from the race.

Saredo Mohamed Abdalla was elected MP for seat 154 who was suspended over an allegation that an underage candidate had contested against the woman.

The Dispute Resolution Committee said Friday it needed ten more days to deliver the verdict on the seat won by acting NISA director Yasin Farey after suspending on Nov 26.
