BAIDOA [SMN] – The meeting of the National Consultative Council between the heads of the Federal Government and the regional states is scheduled to open in Baidoa, the capital of the Bay region, on Thursday.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, Governor of Banadir Yusuf Hussein Jimale, President of Hirshabelle Ali Gudlawe Hussein, President of Galmudug Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qorqor are in Baidoa.
The president of the Puntland administration, Saeed Abdullahi Deni, is said to not be participating in the National Consultative Conference due to a political dispute with FGS.
The leaders will discuss issues such as the elections, the fight against Al-Shabaab, the security of the country, politics, and economic issues, as the Minister of Information of Somalia Daud Aweys told the media.
The Baidoa National Consultative Assembly will be the 5th since Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s re-election on May 15 of the last year 2022.
Somalia is facing now Al-Shabaab in an offensive started in August 2022 with an aim to liberate while nation from th militants, as Mohamud said.
