MOGADISHU [SMN] – The Prime Minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre, received the UN Special Envoy, James Swan in his office today.
The PM’s office said both sides have discussed the political, security, and humanitarian situation in the country and how the UN can contribute to the drought response efforts.
“During the meeting, the Prime Minister & the Special Representative discussed a range of topics including latest political, security & humanitarian developments in Somalia,” reads the statement in part.
The UN envoy said that UNSOM will work with the government on how to provide aid to the people affected by the drought.
The envoy also said that the United Nations is ready to help the Somali government with programs that are aimed to develop the country and ending hunger.
