Somali president holds meeting with Blinken in Washington

WASHINGTON – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is in the United States, met with the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and his deputy, Victoria Nuland.

 

Blinken posted on Twitter that the United States is committed to helping the Somali people.

“The United States is committed to helping the Somali people fight terrorism, prevent famine, promote democracy, and save lives,” Blinken said in the statement.

Blinken also said that President Hassan Sheikh discussed stability, good governance, and humanitarian issues.

President Hassan Sheikh also held separate meetings with senior US officials, including the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Adviser, and the heads of the US Treasury Department.
