MOGADISHU [SMN] – Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the president of Somalia on Saturday said the Al-Shabaab IEDs could not reach their target in Mogadishu without facilitation.

Speaking at an event marking the 79th anniversary of the police foundation, Mohamud revealed that there are officers who help Al-Shabaab pass its IEDs through checkpoints.

The president warned that the government will find the facilitators and bring them to justice one day, adding that the country has one enemy and that is Al-Shabaab.

This comes weeks after Al-Shabaab attacked a heavily protected hotel in the city’s green zone near the presidential palace, where gunmen holed up in Villa Rays for hours.
