BELEDWEYNE [SMN] – The Somali National Army [SNA] with the support of locals took control of the Booco area in the south of Beldweyne,  senior regional officials confirmed.

Reports say that Al-Shabaab militants pulled out of the area they had controlled for 13 years, shortly before the Somali government forces moved in.

The Somali military officials have announced that they will continue their offensive against Al-Shabaab until the group is eliminated from the entire region.

The Hiraan region, which is located in the center of Somalia, is witnessing a series of battles between Al-Shabaab and the government forces backed by Mawisley militias.
