Somali troops seize control of several villages from Al-Shabaab


MOGADISHU [SMN] – Troops from the Somali military seized control of Ali Gadud mosque and Burda’ar villages in the Middle Shabelle region from Al-Shabab on Saturday.


Hirshabelle State spokesperson Daud Haji Irro confirmed the seizure of the areas to the state media, adding that local residents were part of the operation, helping the SNA.

Irro said soldiers are still in the area and will continue the military operations to drive Al-Shabaab out of the whole region, which borders the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

In the latest operations, the military-backed by residents has taken several settlements in the middle Shabelle region from Al-Shabaab militants.
