Somalia, China discuss drought and development projects

MOGADISHU [SMN] – The Minister of Information Osman Abukar Dubbe and Chinese Ambassador to Somalia FEI Shengchao today discussed the development of Chinese projects in Somalia, following a meeting at the embassy in Mogadishu.

Minister Dubbe thanked the Ambassador for his Government’s development projects in Somalia, in particular, its support to the Ministry of Information, such as equipping, developing the Theater, and the National Media.

The Minister of Information also thanked the Ambassador for the role of the Government of China in building peace and governance in Somalia, noting that Somalia stands for the protection of the unity and solidarity of the people and government of China and as necessary.

Chinese Ambassador to China FEI Shengchao thanked the Minister of Information for the meeting and his visit and pledged to strengthen cultural and media development projects.

He said the two countries have a deep and cooperative relationship and his government supports the development of state-building.

Minister Dubbe discussed with the ambassador that the Chinese government is assisting in drought relief and finding a lasting solution to their recurrence, such as building dams and wells to prevent water shortages.
