Somalia, Ethiopia Intelligence agencies ink new deal in Addis Ababa

ADDIS ABABA – The Director of Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] Mahad Salad signed a deal with his Ethiopian counterpart Temesgen Tiuneh in Addis Ababa.

 

The two Intelligence chiefs have agreed to cooperate on counter-terrorism and information sharing, according to a statement issued by NISA.

Ethiopia is part of the military operations in Somalia against Al-Shabaab as its forces are serving under the AU mission [ATMIS].

Mahad Salad who is on a visit to Ethiopia said the new deal is meaningful for the security of the two countries which face the threat of Al-Shabaab.

This came weeks after Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed agreed to improve security conditions around the border.
