Somalia, Kenya discuss, security and border reopening

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali PM Hamza Abdi Barre received Kenyan defence minister Aden Barre Duale at his office in Mogadishu.

 

The office of the prime minister said Hamza and Duale discussed border reopening and cooperation in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

Kenya’s defence minister who arrived in Mogadishu on Thursday for the inauguration of intergenerational academy of Somali language hailed SNA gains against Al-Shabaab and the mobilisation of the public to join the war.

Kenya contributed troops to AU mission in Somalia in 2012 who are stationed in Jubaland state, mainly in Lower Jubba region and Gedo.

KDF mainly protecting Kismayo, the seat of Jubaland state led by Ahmed Madobe, a key ally of Nairobi.
