Somalia presents the debt relief plan at the IMF HQs

WASHINGTON – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with the head of the International Monetary Fund [IMF] Kristanila Georgieva on Friday as he visits the US.

 

Villa Somalia said both sides have discussed issues such as the progress made by Somalia in ensuring the reform of the financial system and the debt relief efforts.

“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and the head of the International Monetary Fund, Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, agreed to accelerate the issues facing the Somali government in order to implement the plan to complete the debt relief process in our country.” said in the presidential press release.

The Somali presidency said that the IMF is committed to working with Somalia.

“The head of the International Monetary Fund, Mrs. Kristalina Georgieva, has expressed her commitment to the Somali government to work with priority plans, first of all, the development of the economic reform process, debt relief and their role in drought relief. the country.” said in the press release.

The President of Somalia is on a working trip to Washington DC, having various meetings with the heads of the American government, international organizations, and other stakeholders in Somalia.
