Somalia president condoles to Turkish counterpart after coal mine blast

MOGADISHU [SMN] – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has sent a message of condolence to his Turkish counterpart, Erdogan.

Mohamud condoled over the death of the citizens who lost their lives in the explosion at a coal mine in the north of the country last Friday.

The president said Somalia shared the grave with Turkey and wished a speedy recovery for the people who were injured.

I offer my deepest condolences & sympathy to President Erdogan and the brotherly people of Türkiye for the tragic loss of lives of miners in the Amasra incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families & friends of the victims and wish those injured a speedy recovery,’ the president tweeted.

Turkey is one of the countries that support Somalia, and it came to Somalia in 2011 when a severe drought occurred in the country that turned into a famine that killed thousands.
