MOAGADISHU, Somalia – At least two people have been killed and five others wounded on Monday night in a bomb attack on café shop in Kismayo town, some 500 km south of the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The explosion, a witness said, had exploded inside the shop, leaving two civilian people dead.

He says the victims were rushed into a hospital for medical assistance.

It is unclear if any soldier was at the tea-shop that was blown up.

Jubaland state police have arrived at scene and carried out an operation, with no arrests have been made over the bomb attack.

No group says it has carried out Monday’s explosion, but such attacks are often carried out by al Shabaab, an al Qaeda linked group.

The attack comes just two day after nine people, including a mother and her two children lost their lives in a suicide explosion in the capital Mogadishu.

Saturday’s suicide blast claimed by al Shabab also wounded ten others, some seriously, according to medical officials.

Since the start of this month, at least 35 people were killed in three suicide explosions and an armed clash between government forces that took place in the capital.

Al Shabab has been battling Mogadishu-based government and UN-backed African Union mission known as “AMISOM” in Somalia for more than ten years.

The militant group was driven out of the capital Mogadishu in 2011 by Somali army and African Union troops following joint military operations.

The group still holds large swaths in south and central regions where is believed to launch from its deadly attacks against the allied forces’ bases and the capital Mogadishu.
