KAMPALA [SMN] – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a meeting with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni in Kampala on Monday.
The two leaders have discussed the stability of the East African region and the bilateral relations between Somalia and Uganda, according to a statement issued by Villa Somalia.
Mohamud shared with Museveni that the ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab in Somalia recorded a victory as the government has captured dozens of areas.
Meanwhile, the Somali leader congratulated the people of Uganda on the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence which they celebrated on Sunday.
On his part, Museveni commended the government for its effective achievements in the fight against Al-Shabaab and the liberated areas, stressing Uganda’s support for Somalia.
