GAL’AD, Somalia – Somali military forces, in collaboration with local militias, launched a targeted assault on suspected Al-Shabaab hideouts located in the forested areas between the towns of Galcad and Masagawa in the Galgaduud region.

The operation, which was executed with precision, aimed to dislodge the militants from their stronghold in the area, according to the residents, who spoke to Radio Shabelle.

According to military sources, the operation was a success, with Somali forces successfully infiltrating and engaging with Al-Shabaab fighters in the targeted areas. The battle was intense, with both sides exchanging heavy gunfire throughout the engagement.

While the Somali military has claimed victory in the operation, Al-Shabaab has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

The silence from the militant group suggests a possible setback or loss, as they typically claim responsibility for successful attacks and operations.

The aftermath of the operation has left the town of Galcad and its surrounding areas in a state of heightened tension.

Reports indicate ongoing movements and military activities in the region, as Somali forces continue to consolidate their gains and secure the area from potential Al-Shabaab counterattacks.

This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing conflict between the Somali government and Al-Shabaab, highlighting the government’s determination to eradicate the militant group’s presence in the country.

As the situation continues to unfold, the international community remains watchful, hoping for a peaceful resolution and stability in Somalia and the entire Horn of Africa region.
