Mogadishu, Somalia – Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartag, the Minister of Internal Security of Somalia, announced the commencement of the second phase of the country’s war against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The operation, which aims to liberate the front areas, has begun in Kismayo, the capital of the Lower Jubba region.

Minister Fartag informed the media that government forces have initiated their movement towards the Badhaadhe district, where Al-Shabaab militants are currently positioned. He emphasized the progress of the offensive, stating that the second phase is progressing from Kismayo to Bulo Haji and onward to Badhaadhe.

However, he acknowledged that the pace of the operation might be slower than anticipated.

“The second phase has started, it is going from Kismayo to Bulo Haji, and it is going to Badhadhe and it is a little bit slower,” Minister Fartag explained.

The Minister also addressed claims that the areas under Al-Shabaab’s control were not being targeted effectively. “Those who say that the places where the Kharijites were raised are liars,” he stated, dismissing such assertions.

The ongoing conflict in Somalia involves a joint effort by the Somali army and international forces to combat the Al-Shabaab group, which has been a persistent threat to the nation’s stability.

The commencement of the second phase of this war marks a crucial step in the government’s efforts to secure the region and protect its citizens from the militant group’s activities.
