GAROWE [SMN] – The clashes took place between the bodyguards of the Vice President of Puntland and traffic police officers operating there.
The battle erupted when a vehicle belonging to Puntland Vice President Ahmed Elmi Osman (Karaash) was taken by the police for violating the law.
At least one soldier was injured, according to credible sources.
The sources added that after the shooting, security officials arrived at the scene and arrested four of Karaash’s bodyguards.
The situation is calm this morning, and investigations are underway by Puntland security agencies into the violence.
