MOGADISHU [SMN] – Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama opened a meeting on the country’s Justice reforms as the government tries to contain a wave of corruption.
The conference supported by the UN is aimed to improve the access of people to Justice and Independent Judiciary as part of the President Hassan Sheikh Government’s plan.
The forum under the theme: Access to justice based on community-centered approach” kicked off in Mogadishu on Saturday morning and will go on for two days.
The Deputy PM has underlined the importance of efficient and reliable Justice and an independent judiciary as well as the expansion of justice services throughout the country.
In his keynote speech, Jama thanked the international partners for their support in helping the government agencies to implement the government’s plan to revive the justice system.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Justice Hassan Macalin Mohamud, some of the Council of Ministers, and the lawmakers of both houses of the Somali parliament.
