NEW YORK – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation arrived in New York City on Monday, December 11, 2023. This visit is a move aimed at strengthening support and collaboration.
The President’s main focus during his time in New York is to participate in the anticipated Somalia Security Conference, scheduled for Tuesday, December 13.
The primary objective of this conference is to bring global leaders, security experts, and policymakers to engage in discussions and formulate comprehensive strategies that will enhance security and stability in Somalia. The nation considers this conference as a platform for addressing its security challenges and promoting international partnerships.
During the conference, President Mohamud is expected to hold meetings with leaders and security experts. These meetings will provide Somalia with an opportunity to showcase its progress and continued efforts in peacekeeping and nation-building. Additionally, the President’s agenda includes discussions on terrorism strategies, economic development initiatives, and humanitarian assistance.
This gathering sees participation from over thirty countries, recognizing the takeover of the Somali security forces.
