MOGADISHU, Somalia – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, warmly welcomed the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Richard H. Riley, at a meeting where the Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence.

 

This ceremonial presentation marks the official commencement of Ambassador Riley’s tenure, symbolizing the strengthening of diplomatic ties between Somalia and the United States.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Palace, underscored the importance of the relationship between the two nations, particularly in the areas of security and counter-terrorism.

Ambassador Riley expressed his commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and working closely with the Somali government to address shared challenges and promote stability in the region.

In addition to Ambassador Riley, President Mohamud also met with General Michael E. Langley, Commander of United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
