MOGADISHU, Somalia – The National Army forces in Masagawey town successfully neutralized Al-Shabaab plotter and intercepted a convoy of vehicles carrying fuel supplies and potential recruits.

The incident unfolded at a checkpoint in the city, where National Army officers engaged and neutralized an armed individual attempting to pass through. The suspect, who was carrying an AK-47, was shot dead in a swift and decisive action, highlighting the effectiveness of security measures in place.

In a separate operation, the National Army intercepted three vehicles in the Hussein Cagey area, revealing a substantial cache of fuel intended for militant groups. This interception not only disrupts the logistical capabilities of these groups but also underscores the army’s intelligence and operational capabilities in the region.

Moreover, the operation led to the detention of several women found in the intercepted vehicles. These women are suspected to be en route to join the ranks of terrorist groups, a worrying development that reveals the multifaceted recruitment strategies employed by these factions. The National Army is currently conducting investigations to ascertain the extent of their involvement and intentions.

The Galmudug National Army has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security in the region, promising to continue such operations to dismantle Al-Shabaab networks and prevent any resurgence of their activities. The successful execution of these operations serves as a testament to the army’s vigilance and dedication to safeguarding the nation against the threat of terrorism.
