Somalia’s PM Appoints New Directors General for Key Ministries

MOGADISHU, Somalia – In a significant move aimed at strengthening the country’s governance, the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, has announced the appointment of four new Director Generals for the Ministries of Environment and Climate Change, Endowment and Religious Affairs, Family and Human Rights Development, and Youth and Sports.

 

Sunday’s appointments made official through a statement by the PM’s office, are seen as a strategic step towards enhancing the country’s administrative capacity and ensuring efficient service delivery across these crucial sectors.

Ibrahim Aden Ibrahim, also known as Nadaara, has been appointed as the Director General of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs. Ibrahim brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of religious affairs, which are expected to contribute significantly to the ministry’s operations.

Yusuf Abdirahman Samatar has been appointed as Director General of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. His appointment comes at a critical time when Somalia is grappling with the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change. Samatar’s expertise is anticipated to play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective strategies to address these issues.

Mohamed Bashir Omar has been appointed as the Director General of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development. His new role will involve overseeing initiatives aimed at strengthening family structures and promoting human rights in Somalia.

Abdullahi Jamal Mohamed has been appointed as the Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Mohamed’s appointment is seen as a positive step towards promoting youth empowerment and sports development in the country.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the capabilities of the new appointees and emphasized the importance of their roles in advancing the government’s developmental agenda. The appointments are expected to bring fresh perspectives and drive to these ministries, ultimately benefiting the Somali people.
