Somali PM Meets German Envoy, Discusses Enhanced Bilateral Ties

MOGADISHU, Somalia — In a diplomatic encounter highlighting Somalia’s international engagement, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with Heiko Nitzschke, Germany’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, to discuss deepening cooperation and celebrate recent achievements on Somalia’s path to stability and international integration.

 

Nitzschke congratulated Somalia on several milestones, including securing debt relief, joining the East African Community, and being elected to serve on the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term.

The government’s accomplishments underscore Somalia’s strides toward economic recovery and political recognition on the global stage.

Prime Minister Barre thanked Germany for its continuous support and acknowledged Nitzschke’s personal commitment to regional stability.

The meeting served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment of both countries to enhance their partnerships, focusing on mutual interests and promoting peace in the Horn of Africa.
