MOGADISHU, Somalia — Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, the Commander of the Somali Police Force, held a critical meeting on Thursday with police station commanders and units from the Banadir region to address the pressing security issues in Mogadishu. The gathering aimed at enhancing the security framework and fostering community engagement.
Commander Asad underscored the necessity for the police to uphold citizens’ rights and treat detainees with dignity. “Our mission is to protect and serve the community with integrity and respect. By doing so, we can earn the trust and cooperation of the public,” General Abdullahi stated during the discussions.
The meeting also tackled the broader strategies needed to bolster security in the capital, focusing on preventive measures against the backdrop of ongoing regional instability. The dialogue highlighted the police’s role in not only maintaining law and order but also in building a cooperative relationship with the residents of Mogadishu.
Moalim Mahdi, Mogadishu police boss attending the session, expressed support for the commander’s vision, emphasizing the importance of a police force that works hand in hand with the community for mutual benefit and safety.
