HARGEISA, Somalia — Somaliland President Abdirahman Irro has swiftly moved to form his administration by appointing a 28-member cabinet on Saturday, just one day after his inauguration.

The cabinet includes pivotal roles in Foreign Affairs, Security and Internal Affairs, and Finance, signaling a strong emphasis on governance reform and the quest for international recognition.

“President Irro has today appointed his new Cabinet, a decisive step in advancing his vision for inclusive governance, national unity, and sustainable development for the Republic of Somaliland,” said the presidency.

Irro’s choice of ministers reflects his campaign promises of “reform and progress,” aiming to strengthen Somaliland’s governance structures and enhance its diplomatic efforts to secure broader international acknowledgment of its statehood.

This strategic selection of cabinet members is seen as a clear indication of the new government’s priorities in both domestic and foreign policy arenas.
