ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday for the 38th African Union Summit, where leaders will discuss the continent’s future and elect new AU leadership.
The summit agenda includes electing a new president and vice presidents for the African Union, alongside addressing issues of peace, unity, and sovereignty to set the course for the AU’s future.
President Mohamud is also expected to hold bilateral meetings to enhance Somalia’s diplomatic ties within the AU.
He is accompanied by a delegation comprising Foreign Minister Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, and the Director of the Presidency, Abdihakim Mohamed Yusuf.
