ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Biixi Imaan Cige, is attending the 23rd meeting of the Horn of Africa Finance Ministers’ Initiative in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The event, which features a high-level platform for discussion, includes finance ministers from Horn of Africa countries and nearly 300 participants representing regional nations. The meeting centers on key topics regarding the implementation of developmental projects between the countries involved.
In his remarks, Minister Biixi emphasized the importance of facilitating cross-border trade and investment in economic resources to capitalize on the region’s natural wealth. He stressed that such efforts are essential for fostering sustainable development and economic growth.
The Somali government, Minister Biixi noted, is committed to securing multi-sectoral investments to boost the national economy, aiming to reduce dependency on foreign aid and ensure long-term financial self-sufficiency.
The meeting serves as a vital platform for fostering greater economic cooperation and development within the Horn of Africa.
