Mogadishu Mayor Launches Annual Quran Recitation Contest

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banaadir Region, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, officially inaugurated the annual Quran Recitation Competition for Ramadan on Tuesday in the capital.

 

The event, organized by the Banaadir Regional Administration and the Mogadishu City Council, brings together students from various Quranic schools across the districts of the Banaadir Region.

The competition, which is held every year during Ramadan, aims to encourage religious education and honor the students’ efforts in memorizing and reciting the Quran.

The ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Member of Parliament Xaadoole, Deputy Chairperson of Social Affairs and Awareness for Banaadir Regional Administration Abdiweli Osman Mohamed, local administrators, teachers, religious scholars, and parents.

Mayor Amir promised that top-performing students would receive prizes, bringing joy to both the winners and their families.
