GENEVA – SoDMA Chairman Mohamud Moalim led a high-level delegation to Geneva for the Arab Disaster Risk Reduction Conference.
The 8th session focused on disaster risk reduction across Arab nations, with participation from Somalia and several major international development organizations.
Moalim and his delegation met with leaders from the World Bank, UNDP, IOM, FAO, CADRI, CIMA Foundation, WMO, UNDRR, and FRLD.
They discussed on boosting cooperation, technical partnerships, and international support for Somalia’s national efforts on disaster preparedness and risk management.
International partners praised SoDMA’s proactive leadership in strengthening Somalia’s disaster response systems and contributing to global preparedness efforts.
Moalim also stressed the urgency of implementing Somalia’s national strategy for disaster risk reduction to protect vulnerable communities nationwide.
Partners pledged to support SoDMA’s work and help execute Somalia’s risk reduction strategy through technical assistance, funding, and knowledge-sharing.
The Geneva meetings marked an important step in Somalia’s engagement with global resilience initiatives and disaster management coordination frameworks.
