MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Minister of Security has called on the warring parties in Caabud-waaq district, Galgaduud region, to immediately cease hostilities.
Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartag strongly warned that those fueling the conflict will be held accountable.
He urged religious leaders, traditional elders, and intellectuals to intervene and help end the fighting.
“The security agencies of Galgaduud and the local administration must work to restore peace between the clans involved and ensure that those inciting violence face justice,” the minister said.
His remarks come after clashes erupted yesterday in Caabud-waaq town, resulting in the deaths of at least four people, including combatants and civilians.
The violence reportedly followed a dispute over the construction of a police station in the town.
