MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Sunday launched a comprehensive accountability and performance review of his government’s three-year development agenda, emphasizing transparency and commitment to national progress.

Speaking at a high-level government event in Mogadishu, Barre said the review reflects his administration’s dedication to good governance and the delivery of its “DanQaran” plan, which was designed in response to the needs of Somali citizens.

“We want to evaluate what we have accomplished from the plans we shared with the Somali people, what challenges we faced, and what still needs to be done,” the prime minister said. “We have completed three years and entered the fourth — I am confident that this government has made significant progress in all sectors.”

Barre highlighted key achievements across areas such as public service delivery, national security, judicial reform, economic self-reliance, and reconciliation efforts. He also underscored the government’s focus on reclaiming territories from Al-Shabaab and strengthening independent institutions.

“Our administration prioritized programs that directly impact people’s lives, including education, justice, peacebuilding, and development. We have remained committed to a Somalia that is united internally and respected globally,” Barre added.

The performance review aims to assess the effectiveness of the government’s flagship initiatives and provide a roadmap for the final year of its term.

It comes amid increasing political pressure and ongoing challenges across security, governance, and federal-state relations.

The prime minister reaffirmed that the government remains open to self-assessment and correction, calling transparency and accountability the foundation of lasting state-building in Somalia.
