Mogadishu – Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu in Mogadishu on Saturday to discuss strengthening the longstanding relations and deep-rooted cooperation between the two nations, the Prime Minister’s office said.
During the meeting, Barre expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its continued support to Somalia, particularly in the areas of politics, security, economic development, humanitarian assistance, and international cooperation.
“The Prime Minister thanked China for its unwavering support and reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to deepening the historic ties that bind the two countries,” the statement read.
For his part, Ambassador Wang emphasized that the relationship between Somalia and China is based on mutual trust and friendship, describing it as “historic and resilient.”
He reiterated Beijing’s commitment to supporting Somalia through development projects and initiatives aimed at promoting stability and economic growth.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen diplomatic relations and international partnerships in pursuit of the country’s development goals.
