DHUSAAMAREB, Somalia – The Deputy President of Somalia’s Galmudug regional state, Ali Dahir Ciid, officially registered for the National Identification Card in Dhuusaamareeb on Sunday, encouraging all citizens in the region to do the same.
Speaking after completing the registration process, Ciid emphasized the importance of the National ID, issued by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), saying it plays a vital role in accessing essential public services and affirming national identity.
“Every society around the world has a system to identify its citizens. Every service is tied to identification. That’s why the National ID card is essential for every Somali citizen,” he said.
Ciid urged Galmudug residents to take advantage of the registration campaign and visit designated centres to obtain their ID cards.
He noted that the system would improve access to government services, enhance security, and support national development efforts.
Authorities have ramped up awareness campaigns across Somalia’s federal member states to boost participation in the nationwide identification initiative.
