Baidoa, Somalia – The President of Somalia’s South West State, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed (Laftagareen), on Saturday issued a stern warning to opposition politicians, accusing them of attempting to destabilize the region’s peace and democratic progress.
Speaking at a large gathering in Baidoa attended by local community leaders, regional officials, and senior security commanders, President Laftagareen said his administration would not tolerate “any actions aimed at undermining state institutions, stability, or the development achievements made so far.”
“South West has made significant strides in peacebuilding and governance. Any attempt to reverse this progress through incitement or political agitation will be met with firm response,” he warned.
The president also called on both the public and political figures to avoid provocative rhetoric or actions that could spark unrest or insecurity, emphasizing that “stability is the foundation of sustainable development.”
President Laftagareen underscored the importance of unity and cooperation between the government and citizens in achieving long-term growth and delivering essential services to communities across the region.
His comments come amid growing tensions between the regional administration and sections of the opposition, who have accused Laftagareen’s leadership of authoritarianism and mismanagement — allegations the state government strongly denies.
