Doha – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Doha on Sunday to participate in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, which is scheduled to take place over two days, Sunday and Monday.

Upon arrival at Hamad International Airport, President Mohamud and his accompanying delegation were received by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, along with Somalia’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mohamed Ahmed Sheikh Ali.

Earlier on Sunday, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, took part in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the summit.

Discussions during the session focused on the Israeli attack on Qatar on September 9, with participants calling for unified Arab and Islamic action in response to the escalation.

Ministers also reviewed a draft resolution expected to be adopted at Monday’s summit, aimed at forming a common stance on the incident and reinforcing regional coordination.

The emergency summit, convened by Qatar, is expected to underscore a unified regional response to the attack, amid growing concerns over its implications for regional security and stability.

President Mohamud is also expected to hold bilateral talks with regional leaders and senior officials on the sidelines of the summit, with discussions set to focus on Somalia’s national security and development priorities.
