UAE Adds Somalia to Temporary Tourist and Work Visa Ban List for 2026

Abu Dhabi — The United Arab Emirates has placed Somalia on its list of countries whose nationals will be temporarily banned from obtaining tourist and work visas in 2026, according to a new directive issued by the UAE’s immigration authorities.

Somalia joins several other nations subject to the temporary visa restrictions, including Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Sudan, Uganda, and Cameroon.

The ban comes despite strong diplomatic ties and cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the UAE, who collaborate closely on security, investment, and infrastructure development projects.

The UAE holds significant economic and security interests in Somalia, with Emirati companies investing in key ports such as Bosaso and Berbera, and providing support to Somali federal forces and government institutions.

While the UAE government has not officially disclosed the exact reasons behind the visa ban, multiple sources suggest that concerns over internal security, regional instability, and ongoing diplomatic consultations related to migration policies and health issues may have influenced the decision.
