New York, Sept 26, 2025 – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York, in a sideline meeting during the ongoing UN General Assembly.
The two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the United Nations, with a focus on regional peace, security, and sustainable development.
President Mohamud expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General for the UN’s continued support to the Somali people and government.
He briefed Guterres on Somalia’s progress in implementing key national priorities, including efforts to improve security, prepare for elections, and combat terrorism.
