MOGADISHU, Somalia Additional details are emerging following an Al-Shabaab deadly attack on Saturday afternoon that began with a suicide car bombing targeting the highly fortified Godka Jilicow detention facility in Mogadishu’s Bondhere district.

The site, known as Godka Jilicow, is operated by Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and is considered one of the most heavily guarded compounds in the capital.

Eyewitnesses near the area reported that the explosion was followed by a sustained exchange of gunfire between Somali security forces and the armed Al-Shabaab assailants who launched the attack.

The suicide bombing occurred just hours after the Federal Government of Somalia announced it had enhanced security measures in Mogadishu, including the removal of longstanding concrete roadblocks that had been in place for years due to security concerns.

As of now, the exact number of casualties remains unclear. However, preliminary reports suggest there may be fatalities and injuries resulting from the assault. Security forces have sealed off several roads near the blast site, making it difficult for journalists and medical personnel to reach the area or confirm the scale of the damage.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, but similar operations in the past have been attributed to the militant group, which has waged a long-running insurgency against the Somali government.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the major Al-Shabaab attack on NISA prison, while security operations and investigations are ongoing.. Israa’iil want Wang mmmmm
