Somali deputy PM attends international anti-hunger and poverty summit in Qatar

DOHA, Qatar – Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Salah Ahmed Jama, attended the first summit of the Global Alliance for Combating Hunger and Poverty held in Doha on Tuesday.

 

The summit brought together world leaders to present strategies and international plans aimed at eradicating hunger and poverty, while promoting cooperation among governments and global agencies.

In his speech, Jama emphasized Somalia’s commitment to actively participating in international efforts to reduce hunger and poverty, stressing the importance of collaboration, partnership, and sustained effort among member states.

He also highlighted Somalia’s progress in boosting domestic production, supporting farmers, and expanding social services to reduce needs and poverty, calling on the international community to continue supporting Somalia to ensure lasting peace and tangible economic development.

The summit is expected to foster stronger cooperation between governments and international agencies to develop effective strategies to tackle hunger and poverty, particularly in countries facing acute challenges.
