Baidoa, Somalia, Nov 30, 2025 — Authorities in Somalia’s South West State have called on the federal government to hand over federal lawmaker Dahir Amin Jesow, accusing him of instigating clan-related violence in Yaaq Bariweyne, a locality in the Lower Shabelle region.
South West State’s security minister told reporters that the administration intends to bring the MP before justice and has formally asked federal security agencies to hand him over.
He alleged that Jesow played a role in aggravating recent tensions that erupted into deadly clashes.
The areas of Yaaq Bariweyne and Wanlaweyn have witnessed bouts of violence in recent days, with fighting and reprisal attacks leaving multiple casualties.
Local officials said the unrest was driven by long-standing clan grievances that escalated into open conflict.
The South West administration said it expects cooperation from Mogadishu in pursuing accountability and restoring stability to the affected communities.
