Somalia Marks 82 Years of National Police with Presidential Attendance

MOGADISHU, Dec 20 — Somalia’s President attended celebrations on Wednesday marking the 82nd anniversary of the country’s National Police Force at the General Kaahiye Training Centre in Mogadishu.

 

The event was attended by senior officials including Interior Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), General Asad Osman Abdullahi, Chief of the Somali National Army, General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency Mahad Mohamed Salad, the Governor of Banaadir, police officers, and invited dignitaries.

Organisers highlighted the historical significance of the occasion, noting the police force’s evolution and contributions to national security since its establishment in 1943.

The celebrations included military demonstrations, parades, and drills designed to showcase the force’s discipline, skills, and operational capabilities.

Officials said the anniversary event serves to honour the police’s past achievements while reinforcing their ongoing role in maintaining law and order across Somalia.
