JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia — The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting at its headquarters in Jeddah on Friday to discuss the situation in Somalia following Israel’s recognition of Somaliland.

OIC Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Yousef Al Dubaie, representing Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, reaffirmed that the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia are fundamental principles that are non-negotiable, according to News.Az.

Al Dubaie said the meeting came at a sensitive time as Somalia faces significant challenges affecting its security, stability, and independence, highlighting the collective responsibility to strengthen efforts, unify positions, and provide joint support to the Somali federal government.

The OIC reiterated its full and unwavering support for Somalia, emphasizing the country’s inalienable right to safeguard its national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The organization also explicitly rejected any attempts to impose a new political reality that could undermine regional stability and threaten security in the Horn of Africa.
